My two Vizsla hunting dogs get homemade dog food twice each day. I mix an adjusted amount with good quality dry kibble.
Homemade dog food can be better than some commercial products. We don’t realize what’s in the food we give our pets. Always inspect the ingredients.
Commercial dog foods can contain preservatives, and are altered by chemical processes that can be unhealthy for dogs. They can also contain processed unknown animal products and fillers that do nothing to contribute to your pet’s health.
To avoid your dogs ingesting unknown dog food ingredients, make your own. Control not only the content, but the quality as well.
Reasons To Consider A Homemade Dog Food
Homemade dog food, your hunting dog will love you
* dog has allergies to food
* persistent skin problems
* gastrointestinal upsets including diarrhea or constipation
* competes in sporting events or working stock and needs strength for endurance
* control of quality and freshness
* nothing processed so food retains all the vitamins, antioxidants and enzymes
Observe your dog to see he is getting his required dog food nutrition.
* shiny coat, illustrious feel
* sparkling eyes
* alert, good energy and activity
* maintain weight without getting fat
* stool firm and consistent
An appropriately balanced dog food recipe contains roughly 40% meat, 30% starch and 30% vegetables.
1. Meat: Any type can be included. Organ meat, such as liver, is particularly healthy for dogs. Bones should be removed as they are a choking hazard. Cook the meat – uncooked meat can contain unhealthy bacteria and possibly parasites.
2. Starch: Most forms are okay – cooked pasta, potatoes, and rice are common choices for homemade dog food.
3. Vegetables: Most types can be used. Do not use onions as they can be toxic. Cook the vegetables – raw veggies can pose a choking hazard.

The human vitamin supplement Theragran-M Advanced and calcium carbonate (example: Tums) can be found in any pharmacy. Always consult with your veterinarian.

* 2 1/8 cups cooked brown rice

Directions:
1. Cook rice until done.
2. Bake your meat, poultry, or fish choice 325 degrees for 30 minutes.
3. Crush human vitamins and “Tums”.

Pay attention to your dog’s response to the new dog food recipes you use. There may be items they refuse to eat or have reactions to a particular food. Try something else in their place, such as substitute chicken for turkey or rice for potatoes. Be aware for changes in your dog’s behavior, especially things such as excessive scratching. This could indicate an allergy to one of the foods you are using.
Homemade dog food recipes generally cause fewer allergic reactions than commercial brands. Plus, by making dog food recipes at home, you can control the proportion of different ingredients. Float-hunting for deer is an old Indian method. Camouflaged canoes flowing with the current allowed the hunter to get within stonehead-arrow range of unsuspecting deer, which had gathered at the water’s edge to cool, to drink and feed. Deer eat aquatic vegetation. In addition to the general succulence of browse to be found at the sunlit edge of waterways, such as the favored willows, vegetation draws deer into the water for food. Deer will bring up whole lily pad plants with their feet to consume them or actually plunge their heads underwater to forage for other aquatic vegetation. Almost all aquatic vegetation makes good salad-bar food for deer. They will separate the earth muck around cattails in swampy locations a foot deep to reach the tender and starchy roots. Cattail wallows actually made by deer look like the work of hogs.
Canoeing to scout for deer along creeks is one of the best ways to scout. Boating rivers and creeks while looking for bank trails and deer sign is also very productive. In shallow streams, look for disruptions in color in the stream bed as telltale signs of deer crossings, as well as the obvious paths and skids down banks. Remember that deer do not often go straight across waterways but attempt to confuse their backtrails by going upstream to exit the water. Enjoyment is likely another reason that deer take a long route crossing a stream.
A boat is at times the best method of reaching wilderness hunting areas, where the moving water naturally took the easiest route. This path of least resistance can be the most practical method of bringing deer out as well.
A houseboat makes a good base camp for a party of river or reservoir hunters. The entire camp can readily be moved.
Scouting or hunting waterways is the best method known to give you access to prime deer habitats. Some of the land you cover may be posted. You have a right to navigate the waterways but are considered a trespasser if you leave your boat to hunt land without permission in privately-owned areas. Upon locating a choice spot to hunt you might check with the local court clerks to find the owner of the land to obtain permission.
Use all the common sense you can muster in employing aquatic transportation. Safety should always be the first thought. Since you are entering areas by the “back door” instead of by the highway access “front door” you may not be able to accurately judge what is beyond the trees that border the creek You should take the time and exert the effort to obtain a map of the waterway to help you familiarize. A shot from a high-powered rifle can throw an unstable canoeist into the water. Attempting to stand in a wobbly canoe to fire an arrow can be very awkward. Find a stable canoe for hunting, one of the functional, rather than recreational types. There are canoes made for a variety of purposes. With a brief search, the hunter can locate the canoe exactly suited to his needs, considering portage, weight, purpose, and everything else in deciding the appropriate size and shape. There is great variety.
CAMPS
Deer camps are special places where story-swapping camaraderie plays a big role in the overall experience. Hunters learn a lot from one another. Members who have enjoyed success themselves often assist others who have as yet been less fortunate. Here seasoned hunters give newcomers advice and counsel. Deer camps can be ideal for beginning hunters providing that the members or guests, staff or elders, are serious hunters interested in the welfare of others. A deer camp guide can point the way to success through his various experiences and familiarity with the particular area. Small, family-style camps set up from a mobile camper, hunting cabins, or tents are necessary for some hunters who travel considerable distances to hunt, making the drive to and from the site too long. These camps can range from a handful of hunters with sheets of plastic for shelter and sleeping bags for beds around a campfire to lush extravaganzas with saunas, video presentations, casinos, and all the trimmings of the international playboy scene. Whatever the circumstances as far as comfort, cost, and conveniences, the fellowship can be great. The opportunity to interact with people you might not encounter in the ordinary circles of your life leave you with something tangible that trips by yourself do not.
Resort camps on private game preserves are wonderful retreats. The operators of such camps are familiar with the needs of the hunters and equip the camps to cater to them. They try to make the stay as comfortable as possible after a day of rugged experiences in the field. It can be a comfortable vacation. These facilities have bathing, laundering, hot meals, telephones, meat lockers, taxidermy services, and comfortable beds. They keep track of their guests and are ready to assist should an emergency arise.
Choose a camp on the basis of a good recommendation from a trusted friend, or write to camps which advertise in hunting magazines for information. Perhaps you will be asked to join a fellowship of hunters who have a lease and organize hunts. Leases and commercial acreages are swiftly becoming more common due to dwindling habitat, the need for herd regulation, and hunters’ desires to have someplace to hunt they can count on. Some hunting preserves offer other types of hunting coupled with deer. Perhaps you would like to take home a boar, a turkey, a bear, quail, sheep, pheasant, fish or waterfowl. Exotic deer are available many places.
If you choose to hunt alone and have a place to do it, this is of course your prerogative. I have mentioned the commercial camps for their merit to those thus inclined. For those with a desire to rough it by primitive camping, I hope you enjoy it, for the opportunities for the rugged enthusiast are unending, as are the adventures.

Africa, a place that is naturally endowed with species that it exclusively owns.
The mere sound of the name rings bells of adventure, exploration, realization and hunting. Because of the diversity of hunting safari, it offers as much opportunities for hunting fanatics to explore a range of ecological areas that have their own specialties.
Well, it’s hard to imagine how we can exactly describe the purity of Africa. It is safe though to tell you that it is filled with rich resources of plain animals suited for game, predators that follow after their kill, animals grazing on fertile and unspoiled lands and others.
The game aside, Africa gathers the largest, most dense and extreme concentration of plant species and strange animals that seem to have come directly from the sixth day of the creation.
Now going to the bird, at any given time of the year, a single national park can contain an average of 300 to 500 bird species, which make Africa not only a haven of species but also a paradise for naturalists and ornithologists.
The plant and tree species are also diverse that it is impossible to record them all. Some species are as old as several thousand years ago, which again seemed to be the direct link to the Creator.
Al these combined (and the mixture of other components), Africa is one big paradise for man and the creations to enjoy. To flourish and to experience the circle of life. The dance that plays with each organism and specie. And the life that sets the balance between the created and the wardens.
As for the hunting safari, Africa boasts the most excellent sites and species that fuel man’s passion for hunting animals in their natural habitats. Though hunting is restricted in some national parks, local governments still assigned African hunting safaris where varieties of games are enjoyed but in accordance with ethical restrictions.
Some common hunting safari animals in Africa are: black wildebeest, gemsbuck, red hartebeest, springbuck, waterbuck, bushbuck, zebras, antelopes, eland, steenbuck, rhebuck, impala, blue wildebeest, warthog, kudu and many other species.
In African hunting safaris, the most common method used is the rifle hunting. However, although it is popular enough there are still unsettled issues concerning the caliber of the rifle. Please check on the guidelines as suggested by you tour operator.
Next to the rifle hunting is the bow hunting, which for the present is not as customarily used as the rifle hunting. Experts see the future of bow hunting though as the standard to restrict any other issues that must be dealt with the more common form of hunting.

Because it’s such a widely recognized sport, crappie Fishing Tips can be found all over the internet from hundreds of sources. The best fishing tips depend on where you are in the country, what season it is, and which lake you are fishing. However, there are some general crappie fishing tips that can easily carry over through various conditions. If you are just getting into the sport, you could probably benefit from a brief overview of some of the best tactics and tips that guides have to offer.
One of the crappie fishing tips that is most interesting is to use a slip bobber. While many newcomers don’t even know what that is, regular anglers use them often in the pursuit of crappie. The bobber on these slide up and down the line from the crappie rig to the bobber stop, which is placed at the depth you wish to fish. This sliding motion attracts the crappie because it gives the illusion of a more naturally moving bait, like minnows and worms, moving up and down as well as back and forth. Use these with ten pound line so that you can fish deeper and pull loose from stumps that you catch on without breaking the line.
If you are one who prefers to fish with minnows, you should keep in mind that crappie prefer live bait. One of the best crappie fishing tips you will ever get is how to hook the minnows in order to keep it alive longer for better results. Try putting the hook through the minnow’s eyes this not only increases the life span of the small fish but also makes them pull through the water in a more natural direction as you drift or troll through the open water.
One good crappie fishing tip to keep in mind is to relax and be patient. If you get in a hurry and begin to move through the water too quickly, wishing to cover a lot of ground, you could completely miss a school of crappie. Often, if you get one bite, you should slow down and stay in the general vicinity, while trolling patiently around within a few dozen yards of the spot. Moving away will either take you away from the school or create a commotion that scares the fish away. Trolling or drifting in the general area can easily produce a day’s limit.
