The Origin Afghan Hound is a very ancient breed. This dog has been mentioned several times in the Egyptian papyruses as well as pictured in caves of Northern Afganistan more than 4,000 years ago.
This beautiful sighthound was used as a shepard and hunter for many centuries, hunting such game as deer, wild boars, goats, and even wolves. They were also used by shepards as watchdogs and herders due to their fast and agile running.
History:
The Afghan was discovered in the west on the regions of Afganistan in during the 19th century. These dogs were later sent to England in the later part of the century.
Some say that Afghan Hounds served as guard dogs and herd dogs, which are within the capabilities of the breed as we know it.
The major role of these dogs, however, was undoubtedly that of hunting. The Afganistan kings would breed a kennel of these hounds for many generations with these purposes alone.
The real start of the breed in the US started with the first Ghazni imports in 1931, when Zeppo Marx and his wife brought from England a bitch, Asra of Ghazni, and a dog, Westmill Omar.
Asra and Omar were later acquired by Q. A. Shaw McKeans Prides Hill kennels in Massachusetts. Mr. McKean soon added a young English champion, Badshah of Ainsdart. These three – Asra, Omar and Badshah – formed the cornerstone of the breed in America.
Summary:
This dog has become a luxurious pet in America and Europe due its aristocratic look. The Afghan Hound is prized and loved by many of their owners and family members.
With its distinctive personality and long coat that requires regular care and maitenance, its not the breed for wanna-be dog owners, but when the matchup between owner and this hound is right, there is no other dog that can equal the Afghan hound as a great and welcome addition to any family.
Aristocratic, but very sweet, loyal, affectionate and emotional, with a low dominance level. The Afghan Hound has been described as “a king of dogs.” Majestic, elegant, noble and courageous, suspicious of, but not hostile to, strangers.
Although resilient, they will pine if they are deprived of attention. They will do best with more mature, considerate children. At one time, the breed had a reputation for being untrustworthy, but has now been replaced by a character that, while still energetic, is said to be more agreeable to training and discipline, as they can be disobedient if allowed to do so. This breed can be problematic to housebreak.

1. For trout fishing, the leader should not be greased. It will not sink far enough to cause any difficulty when picking the line and lure from the water, but if it is allowed to float; it will cast a shadow on the bottom of the stream which may scare the trout.

5. Trout are sometimes very moody or selective and will try the patience of any angler; hence, possibly a fly with less hackle will do the trick or it may be necessary to use a spent-wing fly or a fan wing.

I’m trying to do a little fishing in New York before there’s no hope left. Any tips? What fish are still biting in November? What flies are they biting? Is there even a reason to fish….?
I’m freshwater fishing.
I’ve had luck in colder water fishing for Steelhead in the rivers, but I used salmon eggs. I’ve also caught some larger smallmouth bass out in Lake Ontario, but I haven’t done much fly fishing. November shouldn’t be too much trouble, the waters are still cold when trout season opens up on April 1 (although with spawning it changes things a bit). I’ve also caught a lot of brook trout on worms with a small spinner above the bait. Hope this helps and good luck!

Watch for the deer trails and tracks that are fresh. Scout and get to know the land. Put out some feed or minerals if its legal. Apples are good. I find it not that hard to hunt without calls,scopes,binos etc. If you know where the deer are…..then let them come to you.

Chances are anaconda snakes eating habits is something that did not mightily interest you before you saw the movie Anaconda. Indeed, why should you, sitting at Orlando or Oslo, be even bothered about the eating habits of this particular species of snake?
Whatever the reasons may be, anaconda snakes stands apart from most of the other species in the way they stalk, hunt, eat and grow. However, before we explain in details what tickles the taste buds of these serpentine creatures, let us stress that they are no compulsive man-eaters.
Such reptiles belong to the family of snakes called boas and use great physical strength and not poison to hunt down preys and savor them. They do have strong jaws as well as sharp teeth and can inflict a painful bite but these bites are never fatal, especially for slightly bigger preys like deer and dogs.
These teeth do not contain poison sacks beneath them and act only as a tool for the hunting snake to catch the prey and drown it or constrict it to death. However, it is the ultimate muscular strength of such interesting reptile that makes it such a string predator at any fortune place you get the privilege to see it.
Anaconda snakes eating habits are largely guided by the way they hunt and their appetite. As mentioned earlier, these reptiles kill by constriction, that is, they make coils around the body of the prey and squeeze. Every time the hapless prey breathes out and the chest deflates, the grip of the snake tightens, and finally crushes the prey. Given that a full-grown female this reptile can be as big as thirty feet and may weight well over two hundred and fifty kilograms, they need heavy food to sustain themselves.
Baby anaconda snakes prefer smaller and primarily aquatic preys like frogs, fish as well as rodents like mice and rats. Adult, fully grown anacondas prey on practically any animal it can overpower, and the kind of prey ranges from large rodents to fishes, turtles, sheep, dogs, fully grown deeps to even jaguars. Anacondas, however, are no habitual man-eaters and hence pose no special threat to humans populating the river basin.
As a matter of fact, human fear for these snakes is more than reciprocated by the serpentine species, and is known to have retreated rapidly when they faced humans.
Anaconda snakes, atypical to any other snake, do not chew or tear the flesh of the prey. They swallow the complete prey and then use muscular movements to gradually push the corpse down its throat to the stomach where the corpse is digested by enzymes secreted.
Their jaws are not fixed together but are loosely bound to its skull and this helps such reptile to unhinge their jaws and swallow preys that are much bigger than the size or its mouth. If you are disappointed from the fact that they are not fierce and despicable man-eaters and with anaconda snakes eating habits, you should blame the movie and not the snake.
