any job hunting tips for college student?

i am a college student. (broke of course)

i don’t have much experience other than a few months at a self-serve yogurt place.

i would prefer NOT to work with the food industry and dealing with customers again.
i’m a car person and i’ve been trying to find a job in that sector. like at local car dealerships. i plan to see if america’s tire co. is hiring. i guess i’m a general labor kind of guy.

any tips on what i can do? i really need to make some money this summer. :\

help!

A car dealership is a good start if you know enough about the brand of care that lot has to sell. I might also recommend if you like working with your hands in general labor looking into vehicle bone/scrap yards. These places tend to need people to sort the cars and physically remove both good or destroyed parts from them. If you are able to work on cars in a more engineering sense perhaps a small garage that does not require degree’s in automobiles doing simple things such as tuning, oil changes, tire replacement, and so forth. If you can deal being around car parts but still have to interact with people I would also look to places such as "AutoZone" and other such companies.

Can anyone give me tips on job-hunting and interviews?

I live in southern California(reeeaally hard to find work here) and I plan on going job hunting soon, and I’m just wondering the best ways to do it and things to say(should I wear nice clothes for places like fast food and retail?). And when I call what exactly should I say, who should I call, and when should I call back?

Any tips for interviewing would be highly appreciated(I get so nervous I stutter and say stupid things haha).

Thanks for any help and please don’t be rude. :)

ok so a few pointers….apply EVERYWHERE whether you like the place or not..its still money in your pocket.
dress to what you think should be worn…like if you apply at mcdonalds dont wear a suit and tie..that would fit maybe a big financial place.
be polite and shake hands with anyone who meets you..manager employees anyone. ya never know they could be like wow hes polite so give him a chance
ask for an app and even if there not hiring what if someone quits and your next in line.
NEVER put anything that would bring you down on an app..if its an old job that fired you say there closed or it was a seasonal job.
after putting the app in there hands give it 2 or 3 days and even if they say they will call…they rarely ever do..so call back and say hey im——i just wanted to check on my application.
show them you want and need a job.
during an interview keep cool dont word things that you know you might mess up…and simply tell the person interviewing that you get a little nervous they should be 100% ok with it.
GOOD LUCK!!!
